I'm with Melissa. Back to the Purpleburst - beautiful color!! I love it.

And checkered binding is always great. Perhaps ideas for the 75th Anniversary....

Is there any pictures of the whole purple burst guitar?

I'd quite like to see a picture of the mystical checker binding cube too - I can't wrap my head round that one, it's just too mad!

Rickenbacker could probably get Prince to play one of these beauties. I wonder what year the purpleburst was made.

wow

In the film "Purple Rain", Prince's guitarist, Wendy, uses what looks like a purple 330.

I e-mailed John Hall a few months ago to inquire specifically about the existence of the purpleburst 4005. He responded and said that the 4005 did indeed exist - it was part of some purpleburst instruments that he did for his good friend Mark Hudson. It would be interesting to know the year that these instruments were built, and I know many of us would love to see additional pics of any of them (especially the 4005!).

Notice that while it has a 21-fret neck, it has the pickups spaced closer together. If you look at a 21-fret 350v63, the pickups are spaced wider apart. There's a lot of real estate between the bridge pickup and the bridge itself.

Great guitar

That is a gorgeous guitar, and I don't even LIKE purple.

You are so right Greg. Wouldn't this be your bravery test if you were in the spray booth.

'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

I had a Kustom wine burst guitar for several years. I got it in 69. It was green in the center and purple on the outer area the same as this purple burst Ric is on the outer edges.
