Now she's back and so, apparently, are the earthquakes. Is there a connection? Of course I'm joking. But didn't you guys have about 4 or 5 'quakes this past week?( Hey, it COULD be Ric related!)

I may get in trouble for saying this, but if you play nothing BUT the root but have the "groove", most people won't notice much difference between us an real virtuosos. Of course, adding the harmony(which is part of our job,unlike the drum) to the rhythm means playing more than just the root.
My point is, if given a choice between "chops" and "groove",I'll take the groove any day! Of course, you must stay "in key"!

No not really, but the fellow at Treasure Island Naval Base(secure area) asked the same thing when I showed my id, without hesitating, I gave him the same answer and he busted a gut! I think he was expecting me to either not know, or at least look worried that there may be a problem. I was a good Boy Scout and was prepared for the "interrogation"!
