He played on most of the Chess stuff, he and fred Below were the house rhythm section for the most part.

Yes sir, in 1994 at the Bass Centre in La. I heard a few years ago she is back here and still gives lesons but the drive is too far, and I'm just interested in the blues now. But yeah, 5 or 6 lessons before the earthquake caused her to leave the area.

Now she's back and so, apparently, are the earthquakes. Is there a connection? Of course I'm joking. But didn't you guys have about 4 or 5 'quakes this past week?( Hey, it COULD be Ric related!)

Wow, I really need to learn more about theory and scales. Up to now I just play fills around octaves and what I *thought* was the I-IV-V progression.

This has given me a lot to think about

I may get in trouble for saying this, but if you play nothing BUT the root but have the "groove", most people won't notice much difference between us an real virtuosos. Of course, adding the harmony(which is part of our job,unlike the drum) to the rhythm means playing more than just the root.

My point is, if given a choice between "chops" and "groove",I'll take the groove any day! Of course, you must stay "in key"!

No not really, but the fellow at Treasure Island Naval Base(secure area) asked the same thing when I showed my id, without hesitating, I gave him the same answer and he busted a gut! I think he was expecting me to either not know, or at least look worried that there may be a problem. I was a good Boy Scout and was prepared for the "interrogation"!
