The story about Rick Neilson giving him a lefty LP is true, I heard it from Rick himself.

Rick didn't GIVE the 1960 Les Paul to Paul. I would be surprised if Rick has ever given anyone anything.

Rick traded it to Paul for "$10,000 worth of gear." I was in the process of raising the $10K Rick wanted for it when he did the deal with Paul. This was in 1988. I still have the Polaroids from when the guitar was at Gruhn Guitars, who was selling it for Rick at the time.

Paul's 1957 Gold Top came through Pittsburgh Guitars at some point, but they did not sell it to Paul. Linda bought it for Paul in the mid-1980's from the late Pete Alenov.
