I'd like to get a 1200 skirtster also and have the engine beefed up so it could get out of it's own way. My last bike was a 74 Kawasaki 80 hp 4 cylinder 4 stroke Z-1, trying to ride a Harley after driving that bike is like driving a volkswagon bus after driving a 454 LS-6 Chevelle, neither handles very good but one sure does it a lot faster than the other one. I miss that bike, I'd take one today over a Harley if you could still get parts for them.

i think you're the first person i have ever seen complain about the 1200 being slow. mine is stock and i've taken many a big bike from a dead start. of course top end is not the greatest on it, but still...

Ever ride a Z-1 Sean? I don't care about top end anyway, you can only go so fast before you'll be scraped up off the ground, but I like them to get there fast. I've never ridden one so I shouldn't be complaining anyway.

Lets see.....Harley, Miata, Sailboat, Rickenbacker. Hmmm, how can one person satisfy all the stereotypes that each one entails? Ummm, I can't, well except for having ecclectic tastes.

Oh, and the Kawasaki triple cylinder H-1, now that was scary.

no but i'd love to give it a shot...i'm sure it scoots. the power to weight ratio on some of the jap bikes is insane. and at first read i thought you said 80cc. hahahaha

Personally, I like my 1993 Honda Nighthawk 750 that I have put over 30,000 miles on.



Also, the color scheme reminds of of something else ...

The Z-1 was the fastest bike in the world when it came out, 160 mph top speed. 0-120 and back to 0 again in something like 13 sec. Been a long time I forget and it never did that with me on it. It had no fairing, and had spokes, it was a regular looking Jap. motorcyle pretty much except insanely fast, was the first of the so-called super bikes. Mine was all black though. You could not floor it, it would instantly flip right over, had tire locks on the back wheel to keep the tire from spinning on the rim if you decided to smoke them up, was a scarey exilarating bike. After riding that for a while all others seemed like grampy bikes, haha!

It sounds exhilarating, Bob...but I guarantee I've experienced as much of an 'adrenaline rush' on an 80cc scooter on two lane roads in Bali...dogs, chickens, bicycles with piles of bamboo on the back, mango trucks, giant air-conditioned Mercedes tour buses: it's all gotta share two lanes...plus these people are Hindus, so death is a different kind of deal for them...I've had numerous very close calls there at 40kh that felt just like hitting 120mph here...

I think two different emotional states can cause an adrenaline rush which are both based on fear, one is based on feeling out of control which adds to the fear and exhilaration which is feeling in complete control and sublimates the fear. I much prefer the 2nd. I'm going to design a test for this, write a book, go on TV talk shows and become a millionaire, what do you think? I'll call myself "Dr" Bob.

Nothing like the 'complete control' of having a giant rubber band around your ankles...Maybe it's a third emotional state: 'mind over matter'...
