The bass arrived today. Needs to be set up bad. Any advise on strings and bridges?

String suggestions will depend on
1) how much $ you want to spend
2) how much time you'll be playing arco
3) personal preference.

I (and many others) happen to dig Obligatos. Very flexible, great string bowed or pizz'd.

It was $1299 from music123.com . Bob was probably right though, by the time you set it up with strings and a bridge, it'll probably cost as much as getting it from the guys he recommeded.

That's a beauty. I'd put it in the front window with spotlights on it...

It would look tremendous in FG, IMO.

Thats a beautiful instrument. Gorgeous actually, but for the life of me, I wouldnt have the first clue as to where to start setting one up.

It is very nice though.
