I remember playing a guy's late ('70's?) 4005JG and it felt very very very different than mine. Not as good, IMHO. Not to say they're not as good or better than the '60's models!

Does this seem a little high?then again were talking of buying a reissue if they were made for $3000.00 or more so probably pretty close depends how bad you want one.

Something tells me if they did make a 4005 reissue, 3 grand is way low. That's why I'm saving my money for the 75th! If something very special is issued, I'll want two!

Yeah you're not going to get a brand new hollow body bass for peanuts that's for sure, especially a Ric. I'd bet they'd be at least what the minimum is for this one.

The '79 is a better bass in every way. It isn't even close. This concludes my review...

You know, Concord is only 15 miles from me. I may go for this one. I'm seriously tempted. Let's not start bidding each other up here !

A couple of scattered thoughts from someone who is suffering jetlag and has no interest in this bass…

First, I believe this and other forums, members and lurkers alike, artificially elevate the value of certain instruments – they create the/a market through their own exuberance…

There are people here that never even touched one of these basses yet believe they need to have one. Possibly JH’s point awhile back when he asked; have you ever heard one.

This I suppose is natural behavior – the forum just acts as a vehicle.

I also believe that manufacturers benefit from such forums – actually it’s a very wise move for manufacturers to participate. There’s nothing that beats a bunch of enthusiasts talking great things about your products…

Second thought (and I guess somewhat conflicting to the first) - here’s your/our opportunity to convince RIC that there is a demand for this bass. We’ve been asking JH to reissue it – here it is – step right up!

Personally, I couldn’t agree with Leftybass anymore, there’s a lot of other great (I’ll add, RIC) stuff to buy for $4K

Andy, are you home from Hong Kong or did you just get there?

Andy - Couldn't have been explained any better!! Additionally, I believe that ebay sellers read comments on this forum about their posted basses/guitars, terminate their auction, then re-list it at amazing numbers, thinking, and rightly so, that members of certain forums will bite.
