Sergio,you mean the pickup cover yea somebody cut channels in the plastic for the strings. As for period correct they were all the same,they are all plastic,the only metal ones are Japanese copies.

Are those knobs kosher for a 72'?
Also, I have no clue in this area... but is it possible that this is not a total refin, but that a clearcoat has been added on and buffed smooth? That would still assume there were no major scratches to begin with.
I'm still wondering about that mark between the treble pickup gear and the pickguard.

The funny thing is this 72 is cleaner then either of my 4004s or my v63.crazy!

The knobs that are on there aren't correct. The knobs that are supposed to be on there are hard to find in good shape,theres not much difference between the old and new except slash and dot and dot and dot.did you understand that??LOL

I know these are the incorrect vintage knobs, but they do look better.

Sept.'72? Hmmm, some of my handywork from the summer I was there in the woodshop.I can still smell the fingerboard and inlay dust in the air.Those days are gone...Ya got a cool bass.
