I'll give it a go. So, what happens if I get nail polish on the side of the fretboard? Once again, Paul, you need to write an "App Note" on Ric care.

If you get nail polish on the side of the fretboard, you're being sloppy with the nail polish.

Steve, I can't protect you from shaky hands or guarantee success 100%. All I can do is offer suggestions as to how to do what you need to do. The rest is up to you. If you don't feel up to it, and the green bugs you that much (it would bug me, too), then you should take it to a luthier to get it fixed.

Actually, I just scraped the fret ends with my thumb nail, and most of it came off, along with the fret varnish, I guess. There is still green on the frets where it buries into the fret board, but overall, it is much less displeasing. Good enough, I guess.

Wow. Then the varnish on your fret ends was barely hanging on.

"Good enough" is good enough in this case, but if I were you, I'd get all of the green off and protect those ends with nail polish...
