Melissa: I'm planning on touring the US next August and September for 6 weeks or so (not as a musician, mind you!!). My brother has some good friends in Minneapolis and I'm sure he'd like me to visit them. I'm also a Vikings fan, so that should be enough reason, eh??
The planned itinerary so far is San Francisco, SoCal (hopefully for Rickenbacker's 75th anniversay celebrations), Nashville, Minneapolis, Seattle and British Columbia, Canada. I'm going to post something in the Forum Comments section soon so I can get some tips on where to go/stay. The main purpose of the trip is to meet as many Forum members as I can, listen to some great live music and have lots of good food, drink and company.

Howard, I have an invitation to go over to the good ol' USA (Chicago area). I would love to go. If we're talking about this time next year, then maybe we could all meet up. August would be out of the question, but Sept? This is just an idea at the moment, but.......

September sounds good to me, Tony. The plan at this stage is go anti-clockwise around the US, starting in San Francisco around mid August. There's no reason why I can't add "The Windy City" to my itinerary!
Maybe I'll be able to meet the Bundys!!

A bit of research will be necessary, Tony ............ like where the best English-style pubs are! I went to a beauty in Seattle (where there was an Aussie girl pulling Guinness!), but that's not Chicago or environs, is it?

Uff da Melissa!Actually I'm a Connecticut Yankee who came here by way of Japan 13 years ago.Howard if you come out here maybe I can take you on a tour of the best guitar shops here like Willies American Guitars in St Paul and Twin Town Guitars in Mpls.It seems like everyone is telling me that I shouldn't sell my 1997 so maybe I shouldn't.

OK - here's another non-native local. Keep the 1997 - that's a no-brainer. And you missed Charles Hoffman's shop in Minneapolis - no finer maker or repairer of acoustic instruments anywhere.

Hi David,nice to meet you.Yeah I would take Howard there too if he would like.Actually I have never even been there myself.Its on East Franklin near Nicollet ave I think.By the way,Does Charles repair electric guitars?Hey do you think I should take Howard to Matt's for a Juicy Lucy(South Minneapolis's contribution to world cuisine)?

A personalised tour would be great, Mitch (and I'll eat or drink anything once!!).
My idea regarding the 1997 was:
I'll buy it from you, but you keep (and play) it. When I arrive there next year, I can either pick it up and take it with me or you can repay me the money. That basically gives you 12 months to:
1. Raise the money to pay me back or,
2. Enjoy another 12 months with the guitar.
However, it's only an offer and you may consider it unworkable and would prefer to keep the 1997 anyway. It's your decision, Mitch. I don't want to influence you in any way. I'm only interested in helping you out with your problem (and, of course, the 1997, should you decide to let it go).
Naturally the amount you would want for the guitar has to be considered also..... if you're looking for ten grand, forget I even mentioned the idea!!
I have a contact or two in the US who can vouch for my credentials if you want to do that.

I'm sure that Charlie Hoffman will work on electrics as well - perhaps not him personally, but one of the folks who works for him. They're an authorized repair centre for a number of makers, including Martin, Gibson and Fender.
