Can someone educate me more on the 21 frets.

Forgive me if this was beaten to death before...
But it's new to me..

Was the scale longer???

Were the fret spacings smaller??

What was the idea behind them, (from Ric)?

Made from 68 to 72???

I think the 21 fretters were only made in late '70, early '71. They are rare birds.

Same scale, the bridge/tailpiece was moved forward, and a 21st fret was added. Pickup positiones remained the same.

No big deal. The unoriginal finish (even if it was white!) meant I wasn't chomping at the bit . Got a couple of irons in the fire elsewhere that I am much more interested in...

Hopefully, the bass will turn up here on the forum.

The neck (and fretboard of course) was a bit longer to accommodate the extra fret. Since the scale didn't change, the bridge had to move "up" (closer to the neck) to compensate. Everything else was the same. Don't know why Rick made them, and don't know why they don't make them. Interesting.

Well I didn't...

I was THIS close, though.. I only held back as Wints expressed a desire for it, first.

Gotta respect a Rickenbrother.

That's cool Ken. I'm glad someone here got it. The owner told me he thought someone had. I could have been more proactive, but as I said being a refin and without seeing the neck, rods, headstock etc, didn't want to take a chance on it.

I always think refin and neck issues in the same sentence...

Post some pix when you get it!
