Total lack of class on her part. To threaten to sue McCartney for using "Yesterday" in an album? Lennon, by his own admission, had nothing to do with that song and she knows it. As much as I hate to say it, John felt (needlessly I might add) threatened by Paul's commercial success, and Yoko's ****** at Paul about it. She's probably also mad that Paul's still around and sadly, John isn't. I can understand that though. Just my opinion though.

Based on her history, I don't believe she has ever shown much class. It's all about getting attention drawn to herself. She always was and always will be self-centered. Her inability to accept the fact that John's bond with Paul was as strong and much more (historically) significant than her and John's. It will eat at her for the rest of her days. As far as her knockin Paul and his career, I ask - what the hell has she ever done? Oh yea, I forgot she married John (her biggest accomplishment) and lets see, she was part of his great Plastic "Oh No" band. Sorry Yoko, even Paul's worst efforts are better than anything you've ever done or been involved with. She should really watch what she saids, it only makes her look more foolish. JMO

Glen...what was wrong with Wings? I think the biggest difference is that Paul wasn't putting Linda front and center trying to say she is an artist of great genius. Let's face it. John force fed us Yoko. Linda herself never claimed to be a professional musician. As far as I'm concerned Linda was harmless. I don't think I would say the same about Yoko

Read the "Official" Lennon bio by Ray Coleman (a friend of the Lennons - John and Yoko,- with input by Eliot Mintz and, I suspect, Yoko). In each chapter, at least once it seems, is a quote by Yoko -"John and I are (were) artists", as if she considers herself and John equal in the significant artists of the 20th century category. That book was so glossy I had to wear shades.

Paul is totally minimized in the contributions to the fabs, and Lennon's solo work gets the higher praise.

Contrast that with Mac's book (Many Years From Now) where he's still showing love for John.

Ray Coleman's book (and Ray Coleman himself) have been debunked in many ways.

wow... I still amazed that nobody has even the slightest nice thing to say about Yoko.

I wonder what would have happened to the Beatles (and to John) if Yoko had never been part of the scene. Personally I never put much stock in the whole "Yoke broke up the Beatles" stuff. I've heard too many clips of John explaining how that just wasn't what was going on. Likely the Fab Four would have broken up about the same time anyways. As John said, as you get older there just comes a point when you stop hanging out with "the old gang".

On the other hand, I might be totally wrong about this. Without a Yoko on the scene might they have carried on making records?

Without her influence, they might've at least had a few 4 way collaborations before one of them passing on... instead of all the "anything BUT John & Paul" projects.

But of course, that's just conjecture from me... and fodder for the thread!

I think they would still have dissolved the Band, They really were drifting after Brian died. They were good at being Beatles, but not good at the business side of things. ie Apple. Brian gave them direction. But then on the other hand when they quit touring Brian's influence was limited. Yoko, I think exacerbated the process

As far as saying something nice about Yoko, you really have to dig deep. However, she was loved by John, so I'm sure there must be something within her that is positive. It's just hard to warm up to her and her constant bashing of Johns history & past relations. I've mentioned before it's not just her actions towards Macca, but she was a huge influence on John & how he treated Julian. To me that is more telling about her self-centered attitude than anything else. Geeze, Julian is John's own blood and look at how she did & still does treat him. As much as she talks about peace & love (based on Johns beliefs) she sure doesn't show it with her actions.

Regarding the Beatles breaking up, it was inevitable. But, I don't think there would have been as much anger and animosity thru the break-up if Yoko hadn't been fueling the fire. - JMO

I can't really think of anything positive to say about her. Bad karma.

I do agree with most of the sentiment about Yoko in this thread, but I have heard of nice things about her.

I use to do consulting work for the NYPD, and I have heard numerous first hand comments from New York's finest that she was very cordial, and always treated the guys that covered Central Park West very graciously.
Whenever there was an anniversary with John's death or anything big that was going on at Strawberry Fields, she would always come out and buy the security detail lunch, or have something catered for them.

Well there's one nice thing anyway.

Good point,Bob...thanks for reminding me. Strawberry Fields is a wonderful addition to NYC in general and Central Park in particular. There is definitely a peaceful and almost sacred vibe about the place. If you ever visit the city, make sure to include it in your itinerary...and plan to spend a little time...
