The S: It feels, uhm... more...how can I put it... muscular, well-built.. which probably results in it feeling bigger, yeah. I'll go with that.

I don't think the 4003S models feel bigger than the Deluxe models at all. But I do notice that my 4001v63 and 4001c64s feel bigger than my 4003S's and 4001's.

Joseph, are you comparing a 4001v63 to a deluxe 4003 and assuming that the 4003S would feel the same as the 4001v63?

Thanks, Bob! My Ruby,("Hotrod")appreciates your kind words...But don't short out your keyboard with your drool! Ruby is my birth stone and July 1987 would have been my 21st birthday. She was meant to be mine!

Yes Henny, Mr. Turquoise has a very dark fretboard. So does the Ruby one for that matter. I LOVE the dark fretboards!

They're amazing instruments and I'm a lucky guy with a $hi#-eating grin on his face every time I open one of those cases and breathe in that smell!

A few of my others come close, but I think the Ruby one is my best playing and best-sounding Rick.

Jeff you are right. I'm thinking of the 4001v63. Assumed the S model would feel the same. Both the 4001CS basses I used to own and my 4001v63 felt conciderably bigger then any of my deluxe 4001's. By the way I used to own a mid to late 80's v63 and it had the thinnest neck of any Rick bass I've ever played.

Tell Hotrod He's welcome!

I can relate on the "fate" theory... were she not born 3 months too late Rosa and I would share a birthday... both '77s!
