The 60's basses do have their shortcomings, but the necks are still in a class of their own when it comes to playability.

Nice pic FF.....

Back in the early 90's when I was looking to buy my first ric bass in CA, there was a nice JG 4005 hanging on the wall. Anyway, I wanted a 4001/4003 and was told by someone the 4005's "were not as collectible..." I think they were asking a grand for it...
those were the days...

Does anyone have a fretless 4005? Were there any made? That would sound cool!

Francesso - yeah those 60's necks are amazing.
Just had to post this - i mean, look at the thin neck. NOT!Image

id love to know the exact measurement in mm from front to back on yours, especially up around the first few frets. This 02 4003 neck is HUGE

Save a tree, plant a 4003???!!!!

I've yet to lay hands on a 60's neck... but my '77 is pretty thin, and I remember my '94's being just about as big as yours, Owen.

Kevin, I don't think FL was a 4005 option.

I can do that too.The brown stuff on my hands is ProTan a dye bodybuilders use right before a contest so the bright stage lights dont drowned them out[as i competed last weekend]it takes a while to wear off.
