I think,
On the Co. Web-forum JH says that "no way" were any leftover horseshoes put into the first of the "V" series basses.
Something about the steel to make the shoes not available anymore.
Wonder how my CS thread's doing... (0)

I collect old Honda US90-ATC90 3 wheel ATCs, and in that circle of collectors, NOS can some times mean Nasty Old Sh#t, especially when bought on Ebay, advertised as such.

Thanks guys for some kind comments on and off the forum. Ken made a comment about me going for something bigger and better? Well it’s certainly bigger, whether it is better…? My band desperately needs a double bass, and as I am not a double bass player I am buying a Steinberger EUB. The learning curve will be steep as hell, but I am relishing the challenge.

Oh those are nice looking EUB's. I've never seen one in person, but a friend of mine I used to build guitars with worked for Ned and built the first 4 or so prototypes.
Do you play fretless at all? I have an old King URB, and it's not so bad after you play it a bit. Just put your fingers where you think the notes are.

David, Michael, I think we might have started a trend, we will have to get RIC to make one!
I am not a double bass player, but can get around a fretless OK, so I'm hoping that I should be gigging with it in about of month of getting it.
How is yours Michael? Haven't got mine yet as I have yet to sort out the best deal, and get funds from the sale of my Ric. Did you go for the 4 or 5 string, I'm still not sure which one to get.

I just ordered mine the other day, Bob. I went with the CR4M from Bass Northwest. I hope to have it Friday, but it might not arrive until Monday.
I played upright in the jazz band and orchestra when I was in high school many moons ago. I went with the 4 because for me it will be hard enough just re-learning 4 strings, let alone 5.

If you have to "relearn", you may as well do it on a five string!

Jeff, I know what you mean. This is the reason that I was considering a 5 string EUB. With regular basses i have never got on with 5 strings, I've tried a few over the years but find that my playing style often includes giving the E a good spanking, and have found that with the B in the way it cramps my style,also the fingerboard cramps my hand a bit, all that said I have never tried a RIC 5 string.

Got home last night to find my NS EUB waiting for me. Very early verdict : wow.
I have a lot of tinkering to do, but I really like what I'm hearing so far.

My EUB days are over... it was nice and drew some attention when I played it live, but then I realized that I am really a bass guitar player.
By the way, Bob, that EUB now resides in Mark Smullian's studio...

Michael, can't wait for mine. I've deceided to go with the 4 string.
Ilan, I must get back in touch with Mark. I'm only going to use the EUB for about 1/4 - 1/3 of the set.

Michael, are you going for real double bass action,V high, or more of a standard fretless?

I definitely want more of an upright sound than a fretless [cuz I've got one of those coming, too], so the action will be a little high.
That's one of the things I'll be tinkering with. I got the one with magnetic pickups so I can a more fretless or more upright sound as I tinker with the knobs.
