Hey, here's another 1973 4001:

The pic doesn't do it much justice, though.

"Anger, he smiles, towering in shiny metallic purple armour
Queen Jealousy, Envy, waits behind him
Her firey green gown sneers at the grassy ground
Blue are the life-saving waters taken for granted
They quietly understand
Once happy turquoise armies lay opposite
Ready, but wonder why the fight is on
But they're all bold as love...
Just ask the Axis...he knows everything."---Jimi Hendrix

Have a colorful Sunday, brothers and sisters.

Sergio, Where is this bass? I can't find it on the RIC Page! I've been looking for a Cii - mainly translucent Red but this one looks great. Do you know of any available?

Cheers,

Andy

Hi, Andy. Click on 'Sold Ricks', then on 'Page Three' and you'll find it. I'm afraid I don't know of any available.

Regards,

Sérgio.

Wow! Great find, Andy! I hadn't spotted that one yet.
Sadly, the replacement tuners are a poor choice, not because they are Japanese but because they are definitely second rate (I know those all too well) and totally depart from the originals design-wise. Hate those extra holes for a thumbrest too.
Another great 4001 you can't help falling in love with!

You could change out the tuners for some re-issues..or hunt for those original slotted nickel klusons.( A must for the 60,s basses)...then it becomes really interesting. Shame about the holes though...Still, am I alone here in thinking that $1400 is still a good price considering the rarity of these 60,s horseshoe 4001,s.....
