Mr Hall,

Is there a possibility of spare parts orders for retrofitting older 4003 basses? Or is it too soon at this point to forecast inventory and demand etc etc. This sounds very interesting.

Cool feature! I agree totally with Mr. Hall: If you don't like the switch, don't use it. Much better than a toggle, which would have changed the appearance.
I wonder what the new bridge looks like!

John Hall, I salute you! Those of you that are complaining.. shame on you. It's obvious that this latest modification was meant for we enthusiasts. The cap has been a major topic on this forum for years.
Put one in a 4003..take one out of a 4001..bypass it...add a toggle switch...
It gives us both sounds that we have been craving and doesn't change the classic look at all.

I have had an addiction to RICs for years. As soon as the internet existed, my first search was "Rickenbacker". I believe the the first valid site that I found was one by "Bobcat". Is that the same one that contributes frequently here...I wonder?? Anyway, I was very impressed when I found this forum and then started seeing that Mr. Hall read it and actually answered question. The latest colors of the year appeared to be influenced by comments on the forums. When I read the latest about the Cap switch, it was obvious he is listening to our needs.

Here are some of the biggest topics/wishes that come up on this forum. Many have been answered.
Installing caps or removing caps. Wish granted.
Walnut headstocks. Wish granted.
Vintage Fireglo. Wish granted.
Bridge intonation and lifting. Hints of new improved bridge to come.

Here's a few more of the popular wishes.
Keep or remove treble cover. How about one that is easier to remove or not needed for shielding.
Thinner neck like 4001C64.
Checkerboard binding and full sparkle inlays. OK, the checkerboard can't be that hard. I understand the material issue with the inlays. Let's keep this for the legendary '68 4001 reissue. ; )

I think JOhn and crew have done a fine job of evolving the design over the years- gradually adding and refining will keep the real enthusiasts coming back for repeat purchases in the years to come.

Umm...I would like to take this opportunity to offer a "high five" for JH! What a good idea!

There is no valid complaint for an improvement such as this. It offers more tonal versatility without changing the appearance of the instrument.

Is there any chance the neck can be slimmed down to to something more in line with the 4001C64? I'd order a MG 4003 tomorrow if it can. OR at least slimmer than what it is now.

There's no immediate plans to do so but necks are trending back that way, it seems, so it's a possibility for the future.

Also, I have an idea for an entirely new truss rod system that, if it works as I expect, would allow some interesting changes. But there's still a number of projects ahead of that.
