Todd, jazz archtops typically have bound guards. Maybe try some checkerboard... that would be insane!

That would be really cool! Imagine something like a nice Fireglo or figured Mapleglo 381 with a pickguard bound just like the body with checkers and then white.... Of course, we're probably getting into $200 pickguard territory, but it would be very cool.

John, all the Latvians that I've met so far have been pretty neat people. They seem to have a much greater sense of national culture than we do, since they're not just a bunch of mutts like we are here. And they have "sprats" which are the tastiest smoked fish in a can you can get!

Todd, I have found them to be very industrious and successful as a people, and yes, with a strong sense of heritage. There is a center here in town and 30 miles south a campground/school/compound where their nationality is celebrated as a way of life. Great food and many very tasty fish dishes. Our wedding feast was catered by a Latvian woman who made really great dishes. Interestingly, my wife hates fish - doesn't like the fishy taste!! Then there is piragi and sauerkraut soup!! Mmmm, piragi warm out of the oven. And Names Days. Svieks!

Fresh, hot Piragi - "Well, I don't want to spoil my dinner, so I'll just have one more"...make that two more...maybe three...four...ten.. who needs dinner anyway? I even have an emergency stash in the freezer. They're not as good as they are just out of the oven, but a few seconds in the microwave makes them pretty respectable.

You got that right!!! Fresh is best, but about 15 seconds in the micro makes them very respectable! Mmmmm....
