Marc, you'd need some serious body guards, a pope-mobile and armoured body protection to have that job!!!

I would take my 72 4001 over my 4003 since it is far more rare.

Hey we're all having fun here... I think what's interesting is most would go for their late 60's-early 70's 4001's or 4005's if they have them.

Not everyone went for the most valuable in the collection either. I think I'd keep my 4001 Sea Green project. The look, the tonal variations, and now the set up are about unbeatable.

Not to whine too much, but I think it would have been interesting to see what the collection was that the "chosen one" came from. I consider myself very lucky to have:

70's 4001's
80's & 90's 4003S's
1993 4004 Cheyenne
2-4003S/5's
4003S/8
'98 V63
'03 C64S

They're all fantastic basses. Its so nice to have different choices when you crave a different sound or feel. But if I had to pick one, it would be either the '98 V63JG or the '87 Ruby4003S.

I think I'd go with the 4003S because it feels more similar to the '80 4001 that I've had since new and played all those years. But I reserve the right to change my mind right when the bass police knock on my door.

See you guys later. I'm off to the sporting goods store to buy some firearms.

Hmmm....tough, tough question!

I guess it's a toss-up between my '67 4005WB or my '98 V63....

Coin toss says the 4005...

Marc, all my basses are in the witness protection program so you will never find them. Image When you look at them they are disguised as Fenders!

I'll give up all my basses for the "armed guard" above....

Seriously, I'd keep the 72 I think, although the 4000 has grown on me so much and is actually my preferred live bass. The CS would probably go first....or would it? Tough call....

well...luckily I live in Italy, so american law woundn't be valid abroad... Image
anyway I'd keep my 67 mapleglo 4005 and give my brother the V63 to keep at home since he plays drums in our band

Good way round it Francesco, I will bequeath mine to my two Siamese cats then! (But keep them in trust for them).

I'd keep my Cheyenne, 'cuz Maple Walnut is my favorite ice cream. I'd sell my 4003/5 Desert Gold to my brother and visit him daily.
