Si?
Well, if you're gonna be vague, it's "mon frere but dat's OK.
Charles Trenét. Anything by him.

La frairie des freres ("e accent grave" if i'm not mistaken...)
Joe Dassin. Lovely voice (imho). Good choice of tunes and nice lyrics. Albeit i'd prefer he wouldn't have recorded "16 tons" in French. Oh well... that's, again, a matter of taste...

"Seize Tonnes". Loses the rhythm.

"Tout bégayait. Tout traînait
Plus rien ne traîne et tout parle...
C'est grâce aux chansons de Charles."
TRÉNET - Jean COCTEAU (1er janvier 1940)
J'aime le "BOUM!"...

Well, i wouldn't agree it loses the rhythm, Paul, i just don't like the arrangement. The lyrics seem a bit odd, too. Oh wait... perhaps it wasn't Joe, according to his website, he recorded this song in English...
Oh, BTW... can you identify the English original of one of the songs recorded by Joe?
Ma musique c'est un rire
Une presence, une voix
Un silence qui dit "je t'aime"
Ma musique vient de toi
Ma lumiere c'est un geste
Une caresse dans le noir
Qui s'appelle la tendresse
Ma lumiere c'est ton regard
Ma priere c'est l'absence
La colere, et le froid
Dans ma chambre solitaire
Ma priere va vers toi
Ma musique c'est un rire
Une presence, une voix
Un silence qui dit "je t'aime"
Ma musique vient de toi
Off: Dane, how do you insert all these accents?..

I saw that Paul got one in there, and I like nothing better than a challenge...
If you'll look under 'coding' at the left, you'll find the method for inserting ASCII code...each character with an 'accent grave' has it's own number, all up above the 200 range. There are good web references for ASCII code...the one I used is "So you want an ASCII Code, huh?", by Joe Burns:
www.htmlgoodies.com/beyond/ reference/article.php/3472621 - 38k
It's a bit of a pain, but if a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing right...
N'est ce pas, Monsieur Les Curmudgeon?

On a Mac, you don't need to worry about ASCII codes. Quick combo of keystrokes gets you all sorts of strange otherworldly stuff. Accent gravé? No problem.

But as long as you are all happy that's what counts.

Okay then...how about Lulu?

Heard her singing some James Bond theme on TV last weekend. My first thought was, "who's massacring that melody?". Then I saw the credits...shocked how terrible she sang.

That would be The Man With The Golden Gun, never a big Lulu fan or indeed fan of women singers in general, I'll give Lulu her due though, for 57 she don't look bad. In states her finest hour I suppose was To Sir With Love made number 1,I believe.

Yes, that's it--an execrable mess of a film, too.
"To Sir With Love" was a sweet tune and she did it justice IMO.
