The pink version of that is really pretty too. I think iv said something about it before. Id love to have either. But i think they would go up on the wall and not played much. I wouldnt want to hurt them at all!
I jump back and forth between my Ric and my Aerodyne jazz bass. I love them both. I honestly cant say which i play more tho or like more. It just depends on what im play.... or where im playing. The strings are dead on my Jazz bass right now... so im playing it more when im just sitting around. Or on the comp... dont want to ruin the strings on the ric if i dont have to haha. The only time i really really prefer the J is when im doing slap tho.

My Jazz sounds ultra-bitchin' but then again it's had every replaceable part except the neck and the pickguard replaced; Schaller tuners, Bartolini pick ups and a BadAss II bridge.
It looks like Ronn's except his is upside down and backwards.

i loved my jazz basses, well not the geddy or the 75 reissue, but the others were great.

Ted - thanks for the clarification about the neck pocket issue.
Best thing I did to my J bass was put in some SD stacked humbuckers. Really didn't change the sound, but made the bass louder, no buzz, and the PU's are quite even when I tap the covers. The previous stock PU's would rattle, buzz, and really had no power. Not that uncommon for stock Fender PU's IMO...
But the instrument plays fantastic!

Yes, my Jazz several posts back has Duncan STK-1 and an aftermarket pickguard and bridge. It makes all the difference in the world.

I know what you mean. That 40 year old Jazz neck is nicely broken-in! But, there's nothing like the tone of my V63's for gigging!

There's a '57 reissue P-bass for sale at a local store that would be mine if I hadn't used every available cent buying my Fireglo V63!
It's nice - Blonde / maple neck / gold guard, but it really doesn't compare with the V!
How different does the single coil P-bass pu sound from a J-bass pu?

Actually I kind of like the color. But I've never liked the look (or feel) of Jazz, Ps or ANY Fender bass. They just don't have a balanced look to them. The head stock is HUGE. It looks to be almost half the length of the neck. The body is too long. Yuck, just ugly all over. To me, all those shots of guys in the 60s playing Fenders (usually with the head held way up high) look to me like they're holding a tree trunk, not a musical instrument.
I'm not just saying this because this is a Rickenbacker site, but the most beautiful bass in the world (IMHO) is the Ric 4005. With the Guild Starfire and Epi Rivoli second and third. (I'm talking mass produced commercial, not custom-made stuff.) And the basses I have I'd put around fourth and fifth (Jay Turser hollow and Ibanez (GAXB 150).
