Considering the work both Dale & Paul have done in the past few months alone it seems salvageable, since it's an opaque color it'll hide the filler blocks needed.
It's a beautiful color!
It'll never be worth what an unmolested version would be to a collector, but it's a great opportunity to build a stronger neck & add a B string!

Well, should the toaster or the high-gain pickup on it need to be rewound, just whistle - forumite Rob Hampshire very kindly sent me a 7-pound spool of #44 wire a few days ago. Even though I'm currently very busy, I can still muster the time for doing rewind jobs.

Er... are my eyes decieving me, is that a 72 AZUREGLO?

Well, it's taken me a couple of days to recover from seeing this! That is the remains of my ultimate Rick....ouch. 72 Azure with all the goodies.....shame it's just missing a neck (as for the "mods", I won't even go there).

I notice the seller only ships to the US. Just out of interest, if I were to bid on this and by some miracle win (unlikely in present company!), is there anyone out there who would consider receiving the "bass" (LOL!) and then shipping it on to me?

Well, I e-mailed the seller and asked if he'd ship to the UK, and he sadly declined. So if anyone was prepared to help out I'd be really grateful.

BTW, I wouldn't normally even consider bidding against another Forum member (or 2 or more!) but a 72 azure has always been my dream Rick, and this could be as close as I ever get, despite the amount of work needed and the fact that it would need a refin. It WAS once a 72 azure, and that's enough for me.

All I can add is that if it goes to someone else on the Forum and is rebuilt, if you ever want to sell it I'm your man....(you really don't want to see a grown man beg..)

If I were to win it, I don't think I'd do the Azurglo.

The 73 I've just re-necked is coming along; I've taken some liberties: 69 Peghead/65 square heel, and no
volute or bulge at the nut.
I had similar plans for the 72....

Brian, many many thanks for your extremely kind offer. I e-mailed the seller again earlier to see if he would be happy for me to bid if I could manage to arrange something; I'm currently awaiting a reply. If he okays it, I'll let you know (fingers crossed). Of course even if he lets me bid it doesn't mean I'll win it, but thanks for giving me the option. Could be I'm just not meant to get it, but we'll see.

Well, I've had another e-mail from the seller saying he's changed his mind and is now happy for me to bid and will deal with me directly, although he asked me to thank you Brian for your offer (which I would've done anyway - in fact I think I already did - but thanks once again Brian!). So fingers crossed.

One thing, do other bidders want to discuss what they're willing to bid so we don't just drive the price up or are they happy for us to to just bid away? I'm really not sure of the etiquette in this situation....

Shaun: hmmm, not willing to cause waves, but i'd suggest it could be safer to discuss the subject "in private" - heaven knows who's reading the forum and willin' to outbid the members "just for fun"...

Sheena, absolutely no waves caused; I was assuming that if discussed it would be via e-mail, but thanks for the advice anyway. We've seen members lose stuff before for similar reasons, although as Dave suggests, I can't see too many people outside the Forum wanting this (although we could be wrong!).
