Phil the biggest fins were on 59 Cadillacs, and the reason to not have a GOOD sounding preamp in your guitar or bass is because tubes get hot and wouldn't last very long inside of a guitar or bass.
Jeffery I'm fifty and hope to be hauling the refrigerator for 30 more years, I wouldn't trade that sound for anything.
And I like the treble pickup surround, the tailpiece and Ric-o-sound even though I don't use it too much anymore. I sometimes fall in love with things with their imperfections and idiosyncrosies and gradually grow to love those too. I like to keep all my options open. I hate it when manufacturers quietly drop things like cigarette lighters (even though I don't smoke) I liked the high beam switch on the floor much more than on the steering wheel stalk also, and still think it is dangerous and distracting on the stalk.
