After a long run with an EMG double coil, and much recent experimentation with various combinations of Ric pups, it finally came down to the obvious - a set of early 90s horseshoe and toaster pups! This is "the one" for me. 1989 4003S with a Hipshot bridge, mirrored PG, 4004L TRC, and vintage knobs.

Or that a swap for any style treble pickup is required as they do with TRCs (I'm hoping).

Yes, that 63 is a thing of beauty. 10 years on and Jon's bass is certainly a looker too...

Yep Jon, that's still the ultimate BG. Prettier than the later "redder" version. Not that there's any flies on that color. Just makes me sick for my '69 BG even more. *sniff*....
