I wasn't sure about BB until I saw a 4003BB in the flesh - I bought it in a flash - quite beautiful!

Hey Bob Young (Rictified)....

I purchased mine from Chris Clayton.
I think Mike P got one in too. (per the "recently shipped" section on the RIC Corp. site.

Both of my BB 4004Ls came from POTR. One, a direct purchase, the other more roundabout. The 2nd one, I got from an ebay auction from the person who bought it from POTR.

Thanks Dave, maybe I'll get it soon, haven't been notified yet though and he sold a few that year, have you received yours yet?
I too think the binding has something to do with the difference between the BB 4004's and 4003's. I don't really like the BB 4004's either, but then again I like the 4003's look much better anyway. Too bad they wouldn't reissue the S model. I wonder what a 4003S BB would look like?

Maybe the pickguard has something to do with it too now that you mention it Wes.

I've been wondering this . . . I think it would be awesome to have a 4004, but with the 4003 pickguard and control layout. It would be so amazing . . . I'd totally buy a mapleglo like that.

I tried...perhaps this would be a...let's see....4006?

Edit: Sorry, missed the part about the control layout!

I came across a book on Sixties guitars and stumbled across a photo from 1961. It was Jim Reeves and Blue Boys at the Ric Factory. They were standing behind some custom painted Blue Boy instruments. I didn't buy the book so I don't have a photo to post.
So I assume Blue Boy has been around since 1961.
Then I went to Official Rickenbacker Gallery and low and behold. Jim Reeves Blue Boy acoustic guitar. Hard to tell from the photo but the photo in that book showed the same guitar in that finish.

Someone here has a 1961 Blue Boy guitar, electric though, Graham? Jim Reeves's band is in the Ric book with all blue Boys including a nice 4000 Blue Boy and Ric amps.
