Dear John Hall,
Thank you very much for your reply (by personal email), and my sincere apologies for annoying you with my last petulant postings.

I had previously emailed you about this issue on the 11th June and 20th June and having received no reply I posted here in a fit of pique. It was very rude of me, and churlish given the generous nature of your original offer. You are no doubt a very busy man. I apologise and will follow up every posting and make it clear that I was in the wrong and that my bad manners should not reflect badly on you or on Rickenbacker.

Sincerely, Lee Kear

DIY, DIY! That's my motto. If I can learn to do something new, I will. Why would I want to take my basses to the shop every time they needed a little adjustment? Doesn't make sense to me.

Well, if I understood well, either you always mount RIC strings (45-55-75-105) and probably will never need the nut wrench, or you mount standard sets (45-65-85-105) and will need the nut wrench, since the neck of your bass will curve.
Please correct me if I misunderstood something...
All the best,
JL

Well, if using Ric strings exculsively will prevent the neck from moving at all, regardless of climate, then they are tryuly something special for sure! Now, if they have something comparable to Pyramid flats, I might give them a try. As for the rounds that came with my 4003, I found them unsatisfactory in feel and tone. Just my opinion, that's all.
