There are not many shy, retiring people in show business, especially among those who make it to the top in any sphere. You almost have to be a self promoter to get anywhere, there are a lot of talented people who go nowhere because they haven't got the stomach for it.

Good points, Bob... if somebody is unable to promote oneself, there's little possibility he/she will be able to make it to the top. On the other hand, i'd suggest, if Murray had no talent, he won't be discussed many years after his passing... there is a possibility the one with little talent would be able to make it to the top - but only for a very short time. IMHO.

*sigh*.....

speculating on what Buddy would have done if he had lived is interesting.

One thing is for sure - we missed out on a treasure of great songs. We'll never know what we lost that day. ..... just like we would never known what we had missed if the Beatle's plane had plumeted into the icey Atlantic on the way over to the first Ed Sullivan Show.

To say "ahead of his time" doesn't even begin to describe it.
