You can buy a 70's SVT head and cab for 1500.00 why buy one of those? My upright sounds huge through them.

WHy buy the Contra? They are small and acoustically wonderful. I found the extension cabinet on ebay and snagged it. I personally hate lugging around big amps. I really liked the idea of these AI units, and they do sound great. I tried it today with other guitars and also flute and sax and it sounds great. It is more like a PA in that it is just pure uncolored amplification. I dunno, I just liked the size of it, but for louder situations, I dont' know how it will work/ but I will report in about it. I is supposed to be a lot louder with the 2nd cab.

SS amps put out more watts with a second cab if there paralleled which I'm sure it would be.
I get the big boom sound like they used to get in the 50's on say Jingle Bell Rock with the Ampegs, I love that sound, it's real bass.

I've had a Contra for about 5 years and have used it live and in the studio in all types of settings; trio, quintet, orchestra, you name it. I have used it on big band gigs (up to 19 pieces) with great results...and this is without the extension speaker.
Actually, the only time I find that I need the extra speaker is when playing outdoors or on very large stages where more than 5 or 6 musicians are involved.
