I've had the Burgundy for a couple of years, but I just got the MB a few days ago.

That Burgandy's nice, what year is it?

Bob Young, what I have done is put a smaller than standard size dot on each side of the fret markers at 3, 5,7,9, 12 etc . I used a permanent marker pen on the white binding. It may sound a bit crazy but it has made more sense of the line of dots originally on the edge.

I hope that if one day I want to sell the bass either the new owner will be grateful for my dots or with a bit of rubbing they should come off.

I found that before I put in my extra dots and slid up to a note around the octave I gave the neck a sneaky look, only to be bombarded with dots, unsure of the 12th fret.

aw, man. I gotta get the vintage knobs for mine too. They just "make sense" with the toaster PUs.

I'm going to figure out that dang new fangled digital camera and take photos of my two tomorrow.
Bob so the magic marker stayed and hasn't worn off? I have the same problem with my 72, too many dots, although it is still much easier to play than my new one. I might have mine new one worked one anyway, I have a buzz on the G string in a couple of places, might have the fretboard leveled off and new binding put on the side, there are some good luthiers around here.

Gerry, I think I asked you this before, but what year is that bass?

Bob Y, I might root out a camera a show you a shot of the binding. It is not as crazy as it might sound. The dots are still there and it's played and gigged quite a bit. Maybe I don't get too sweaty...!

I might just get a couple of permanent markers and white out the dots that are there and and put new ones on, thanks for the idea Bob.

I have a Dec. 72 jetglo FL Gerry.

Incidently Ric is going back to the old way of dots at every fret on the FL's I'm pretty sure, good news.
