No thank you. Unless you wanna bring back the "S" option. I would so pay extra for that.

I realize this has been brought up ad nauseum in the past, but I bet there are a lot of us who would pay much higher prices for custom shop instruments set up and made to our specs within reason.

It seems that Ric have trouble with the finish on any blue instrument they make. Poor, very poor.

I must say my Blue Boy remains the correct colour after about 4 years from new. I will not be happy if it starts to go green.

I can understand that people would be upset if the color of their instrument changes from what they want, but seriously, ALL basses change color over time. Maple turns yellowish, white turns yellowish, black turns greenish, fireglo turns yellowish . . . I dunno, but being ****** off because of something that happens to pretty much every instrument that has a finish seems a little unreasonable . . .

Ian, your instrument WILL go green. The clear coat WILL yellow as they do on all instruments.

I think you should unload it right now.

Ian, with all due respect, I know you had trouble with your Midnight Blue but mine was flawless so they don't have trouble with every blue instrument they make....and I'm sure mine wasn't the only one without issues.

One reason I passed on the Blue Boy finish was due to the fact that the clear will yellow.....I didn't want a Green-ish Boy so I ordered JetGlo instead. I had a Tuxedo that was a cream color and I hated it. I wish Ric had a non-yellowing white or that their clear wasn't so UV sensitive but that's the way it is so I choose my finishes accordingly.

You need to be color-blind like me. If the light is right, everything's green. It's all good.

I set up my own basses. Through trial and error over the years, I educated myself on various tweaks and tricks of the trade.

I think if your a ticky player, then doing your own setups is mandatory. The only thing I cant do, (and I regret it every day,) is read a schematic and solder. One thing I never took the time to learn. Damn!!

But,,,,I have a good friend who is excellent at it and is always willing to help.

John is right, if they say cut the nut really low, to perhaps a tech's liking, it may be to low for the consumer. Then the consumer would have to replace the nut right away.

A higher action and set-up from the factory makes perfect sense to me.

Besides that, I like taking a decent playing bass and making it play incredible just by using the knowledge I've picked up over the years.

I have a neighbor boy (16) who is just learning to play bass, I'm enjoying showing him the tricks.

There are folks out there who pay extra for a distressed finish.
Yellowing is going to happen unless you use car paint...

Don't worry Ian... It'll turn yellow before it goes green on yours!

Well... i like green. And the prospect of Fireglo yellowing with age makes me want a FG. No, i'm not kiddin'. As Mousie says, "the yellower - the better!", and some say kids can't be wrong!
