I want one SO BADLY! I have two basses with the HS pups on them, and I'm just hooked. The HS & toaster combo is my favorite. I'm compiling all original RIC parts and I have hopes of getting a RIC HS one of these days.
I have an old 4001 body that I want to match up with a HS & toaster. Then, I'm hoping to get on the RIC REFINISHING WAITING LIST to have it done to look just like this....

Paul and Dale's work is so good that they have ensured themselves steady (read: overflowing) work for years to come!

Tony, an awesome looking 4001! Yours will look so great in that color, especially with a toaster and HS. Either Paul or Dale will make it a masterpiece. Love the look!

Thanks John,
I'm going real slow, I want to make sure I get it right. I'm really not in a huge rush.
Here is another shot of the bass that I missed about a year ago on Ebay. I haven't been able to get this bass out of my mind ever since!

Yeah, I know. I saw and saved pics of that 1978, missed it though. There was also a 79 AutumnGlo I wished I had gotten about a year ago....

John,
You OBVIOUSLY are a man of good taste.
How I wish RIC would have AutumnGlo or WalnutGlo available again. Throw in a skunk stripe option and I'd be deeper in debt again.
No wonder why Paul & Dale are so busy!
The Monty Brown was close, but that is just so damn sexy!

I've been told my taste is all in my mouth, so Thanks! Those two (78 and 79) 4001 basses are just too beeyouteefull! A 75th Aniversary 4001 Autumnglo (wide fade-in burst) with checkered bindings, skunk stripe neck with 4001 dimensions, new truss rod system, toaster and HS pups, new tone cap switching, and half-inch spacing at the neck, would cause me to loose body control - my hand would immediately go to the credit card!!
Ahhh, we can dream.....

There ya go! Straight from the Man himself.
Factory HS coming fom RIC!
My ideas are cosmetic covers but if there's a patent issue-no-thank-you.
So all you guys in line...

Jack-
I know I do not 'need' one of these...
I also do not need;
it is
illogical!

Too funny,
I STARTED to type almost word for word....
"A 75th Anniversary 4001 Autumnglo (wide fade-in burst) with checkered bindings, skunk stripe neck with 4001 dimensions, new truss rod system, toaster and HS pups, new tone cap switching, and half-inch spacing at the neck"
......just what you just said! I just didin't think of the wide fade-in burst & truss rod part. I agree. Too funny. Not only are you a man of good taste, but of VISION too!
I've been holding off on any new purchase IN HOPES of a 75th Anniversary edition in August.
I'm glad I'm not the last hold out.
If, the model you describe were to actually come to pass, I'd take TWO!
C'mon Mr. Hall, give us some HOPE! Or, at least a hint! Anniversary edition? Is there still hope, "per se' " ?

The 1996 is as close to an anniversary edition as it's going to get, and you can buy that now.

I thought that was pretty clear at the beginning of the year, but thanks for the clarification.
Any news on any upcoming celebration of the anniversary, John?
