Hah! There are a few days a year Michael when I feel like a senior. Age tends to creep up on you while you are sleeping. However, my hearing still works perfectly though.
LOL

How true. First it's an ache, than a pain and than....well, youth is a mirage on the horizon.
So I guess we'll never get to the bottom of this one, hmmm?

Hahahah Paul. Mine too. Mine is an old hockey injury that comes back to haunt me a few times a year.
Ok Michael I will say...that I still think it's George. There I have said it. I'll tell you why later, after others chime in and say their piece.

I agree with you gents. It's George. If anything, upon further listen, Hello Little Girl helps confirm it for me.

Well, gentlemen, as the new guy on the block I hate to make a fuss, but I just can't hear it as anything other than Lennon. More than any of the other Beatles, John changed his vocal style depending upon the song--George always sounded like George, but John played around with his sound, probably due to his comments about not liking his voice. But the sort of airy way he sings the "always" part, and the little trills on the "if you," bit, sung as "if you-who," sounds like the way John would have done it, not George. The low notes at the end seem very John to me, especially when he was goofing off.
Funny enough, I hear this and it almost reminds me of Just Like Starting Over. I hear everything about this one as Lennon--when I listen to the track my instintive response is "John." Of course, I've been wrong before, and if you can believe what Lennon said later in life, GH picked up a lot of his vocal instruction from John and Paul, so it could be a young Harrison doing his best to sing it like his mate Johnny would.

Gents,
David has made more than a few a few valid points. Remember that the "lads" used to throw a bone to George every once in a while so he could have a go. George often tried to sound like John, who in turn liked having a go to sound like Paul who was trying to sound like Little Richard (and Elvis at times)and no one wanted to sound like poor Ringo.
So my vote is still for GH singing that song.

I dunno - at the first listen, it sounded like JL to me, but after having listened to "Hello little girl", i'm not sure.
Thanks for sharing, Michael.
Ahem. And is there any possibility i could get "junior member" status back - forever & without losing my profile?

(kiddin', kiddin'...)

David,
You are afforded the honor of being a "Senior Member" after 100 posts. Thankfully it has nothing to do with age.

For what it's worth, Mark Lewisohn credits the vocal on this song to John (in The Complete Beatles Chronicle). Mark's research and documentation is so thorough that I tend to go with his take on this, although I agree that on listening to the song it is very difficult to be sure....

According to Mark Lewisohn in The Complete Beatles Chronicle, the vocal is John. Given Mark's exhaustive research and documentation, I tend to go with him, even when — as in this case — it's a tough call when listening to the track.
