Interesting - i was also thinkin' about it. Well, not exactly - not money maybe (this could create some troubles, imho - for instance - i don't mean people on this forum could ever act like that, but i've come across that attitude at some other communities: "i pay for my participation, and you, [the moderator's name], tell me what to do?!", and i cannot find a "polite" name for that attitude... anyway), but maybe a present? A special guitar, perhaps?
No offence meant, of course - just a suggestion.
Thank you, Peter, and i mean that.

What a great idea! I'd gladly donate in a heartbeat. This place has become such a daily routine for me, I couldn't imagine my life without it now. Hope that doesn't sound too extreme, or I need to get a life! The only concern I'd have would be something I noticed at another major forum I frequent. In the real world, not everyone can donate due to financial constraints. Totally understandable. Or maybe they don't ask for much info, or only occasionally lurk. What I started noticing after the "fund drive" was an attitude of "maybe you oughta become a contributing member if you have so many questions about your brand x bass". It seemed to reek of elitism for lack of a better description. I'd hate to see that happen here or anywhere else. My belief is, paying or not, everybody has new info, new guitars, fresh outlooks, etc. and whether or not you can afford to or choose to contribute doesn't really matter as much as your love for Rickenbackers. The only restriction on the other site that makes SOME sense is not allowing classifieds to non-payers. I can understand not wanting someone selling expensive gear all the time for free. Just my thoughts!
Well, the best way to handle that is to keep any donations (by any name) as anonymous as possible.. no status changes on the board, the only ones who know are the donors and those who handle it.
When the time comes that the Archives are ready, and I am not sure when that may be, every attempt will be made to ensure that they are affordable. The hardest part is, of course, finding the time to make the first one!
For the record, The Rickenbacker Forum is a hobby.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
I would like to personally thank you for allowing me to share in a subject that is of such great interest to myself and so many others who participate on this incredible forum.
Sincerely,
Brian

Yes..Thank You, Peter! I couldn't imagine this site not being here, let alone the members. Although I don't often post, I visit almost daily and enjoy the professionalism and information.
I mistakenly glazed over this thread. I think it would be nice to throw a few bucks Peter's way or at least supplies and such for archiving. Thanks again Peter.
Peter has provided an invaluable service to all of us over the years, and brought us hours of enjoyment. I have made friends, learned countless details of Rickenbackers, and of course many of us have thwarted ugly and disgusting fraud attempts regarding fakes and thefts.
I am proud to have sold him a Rickenbacker, and even prouder to know him.
