My 1959 Bassamp actually looks something like the B200R (same size and general style) except it is pre-diamond tolex by a year I think. It has one big port in the back for sound as well as letting the heat out of the insides of the amp, sounds very sweet. It has an Ampeg logo on the grille, it is an older style logo.

Wow, big response to a little question, thanks everybody.

I think the answer has been staring me in the face. I use a Ampeg Portabass 250 head and a 2x10 cab for rehearsals and the odd gig with my EUB. The head is really small, but the cab is bigger than my practice one at home.

I think I will use the head with a small 1x10 or even 1x8 cab and my problem is solved.

Thanks for all the ideas, even the silly ones! Bob

Sometimes I use my Ampeg PB250 head with this 1-10 cabinet.

Hey Bob.. is it a tin-plate Ampeg logo on your Bassamp? I've got a '59 myself (model 835c), with the 'random flair' tolex. Would love to see a pic of yours!

It's a secret. You have to buy one and find out for yourself. Like Marc Seligman did. Image

Cale, yes it has a tin plate logo although I've never heard that term before. I got the schematic from the man himself Jess Oliver, I couldn't find it anywhere. I think mine's a C also. If I can figure out how to work my wife's digital camera and post them I'll out up a few pics of my stuff which is long overdue.

Jeff, every time I see that bass, I cry because it's not mine. It's SO gorgeous.

Bob, i'm trying to find photos of mine as well.. i took several of the Ampeg, as well as my Burg 4001FL and can't seem to locate the disc.. I think it's in a 'safe place', so safe that even i can't find it!

Nice CR4M Jeff...! I will have to get a shot of mine up. You play with quite a steep angle on the neck. Have you tried plucking near the end on the fingerboard? For me it gives more of a double bass tone down there.

Playing the NS is a new experience for me and I have no idea if I am playing it "properly", but I will get it figured out in time.
