Right now, I'm on an anti-Bettman kick. It's sour grapes. It just kills me that a few thousand people (who couldn't or wouldn't fill the seats during the regular season) are now whooping it up while up here in Canada a whole nation is in something akin to mourning because a city that's a thousand miles away from most of us couldn't bring it home. Meanwhile, Bettman's beaming, saying how great this is for hockey. I couldn't disagree more. No cup in Canada for 14 years! Blame Bettman! Hate the Bettman! (Because it's an easy excuse.)

BIG CHIEF???? Dude! YOU ROCK!

Toronto needs an infusion of speed, youth and hunger. It seems they have gotten complacent. Belfour needs to be put out to pasture. I'd Love to see them win, no doubt.

What? You didn't think I was down with "The Chief"?!?!

That's how I met my singer...he has the 3 headed dog Big Chief logo tattooed on his leg & I recognized it.
He said that NO ONE else had ever known what that was....

And yes, I agree with your assessment of the Leafs.

Steve,

Your assessment of the Canucks is bang on the mark. Bert has to be traded, Clouts needs to go play on the farm and we need a few more players like Jovo and Cookie. People who wear their heart on their sleeves and who will take severe punishment to win games. Yep thats' all we need. Hmmm that's a pretty tall order in Vancouver. I hear we are going to get a coach (Alain Vineault) tomorrow, perhaps even today.

He's supposedly got a short fuse so we will see how that works with the mix

And it seems they addressed the very needs I identified!

The Panthers have confirmed that they acquired Todd Bertuzzi, Bryan Allen and Alexander Auld from the Canucks in exchange for Roberto Luongo and Lukas Krajicek and a 2006 sixth round pick.

Luongo is a restricted free agent, and the Panthers had been unable to work out a long-term deal with the star netminder. The Miami Herald reported on Tuesday that Panthers general manager Mike Keenan said that the team would explore all options when it came to Luongo.

On Friday night, Keenan pulled the trigger on a mega-deal with the Canucks.

Now if Nonis can get Luongo signed long term, move a few others to bring in some fresh talent... With a goalie like Luongo it should attract some good players possibly for bargain prices. Jovo is likely gone, Cloutier will be dealt as soon as Luongo is signed if not before.

Bye bye Clouts... your next and good riddance.
