a "little known fact" indeed .... it seems to me that Randy is the only one.

Someone's leg is being pulled around here and I hope it's mine.... I would hate to think that anyone actually takes this "little known fact" seriously.

George says it was Eric. That's good enough for me. I have heard rumours that Ringo did play guitar on some Beatle tunes but so far no one has jumped up and provided proof. At least as far as I know they haven't

You guys just hate to give Ringo any credit. Everyone assumes that just because Eric was in the studio when they recorded 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' that he played lead. Well, Ringo was in the studio too. I have it on good authority that he played drums on the rhythm track, then he handed Eric a tambourine and picked up Eric's guitar. Eric learned a trick or two as Ringo added the tasty lead overdubs. George Martin wasn't particularly happy with Eric's contribution because he always wanted more cowbell and less tambourine. Being a generous guy, Ringo has always let Eric take credit for the lead playing. He felt Eric's sagging career needed the boost at the time. I hope that one day somebody gets it straight in a Beatle publication, because it's a story that deserves to be told.

Personally I am a huge fan of Ringo. So if he gets credit that is just great in my books, but are you serious about him the notion of him playing guitar instead of Eric on that song?

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.... or at least more proof than "I have it on good authority". Its like many conspiracy ideas floating around these days. They may sound plausible on at first glance, but the problem comes when you consider how many people would need to be in on the secret and actively lie about it (or at least remain mum). In this case the conspirators would have to include (at bare minimum) Ringo, Eric, George, John, Paul, George Martin and the other EMI sound engineers.
