One of my favorite "Famous Meeting" Stories is about when Ronald Reagan and John Lennon met at the ABC MNF booth and Reagan was explaining to Lennon how American football was played. I heard that they got along pretty well. BTW: that same game John was on camera saying it did his heart good to hear the stadium playing an old Beatles tune... Yesterday!

One thing I'd never seen was Lennon on MNF. That must have been something. Anyone know of any "YouTube" sightings of that particular moment?

According to Frank Gifford, Lennon met Ronald Reagan when both were guests on "Monday Night Football" in the mid-1970s. After appearing on the show, he gave Gifford and Howard Cosell each a complete collection of Beatles albums, which he autographed.

Gifford told Michaels about the night both Lennon and Reagan visited the booth. He recalled the conservative politician with his arm around the peace-loving Beatle, explaining the finer points of American football. "That was something kind of special," Gifford recalled

Now THERE is a photo I'd like to get autographed, by BOTH men.

I was 14 when Elvis died. I remember seeing the story on TV and thinking "I know that name. I know he's famous. But who is he?" It really took several years after he died before he was once again the most famous thing on the planet.

He was so totally irrelevant by the mid 60s (posing with Nixon on an anti-drug campaigning in the late 60s I guess was how not to connect with the rock and roll buying public of those days.)

I know Carl Perkins once said if he'd have known how bad off Elvis was he'd have visited him. But unless you were in Vegas or one of his middleaged female suburban fans you had no idea what he was up to I guess.

At least Lennon ran into Reagan instead making the effort to see him specifically.

I don't know if I can stand to see Howard Cosell again. In the 70s I thought we'd never get rid of him and it appears that I was right.

Glen, Reagan wasn't president at the time.
