Richard, he played the 4001C64S on Spinning on an Axis and I believe, ladies and gentlemen that Paul did NOT keep the bass.

I thought it sounded like it was just "borrowed" for the track.

That's what I was thinking Kevin. Although I would use the word lent, because I don't think Paul actually asked to use it.

John Hall quote from earlier in this very thread:

"I can tell you that it was used on "Driving Rain" because he called me from the studio and asked me to bring him a bass (which was actually a C Series prototype). He'd left his original at home and was desperate to get "the" sound".

Don't know if he kept it or not.

Do you think they would have even asked for it back? Seems a small bounty to have it in the hands of Macca.

Bottom line. Paul's gotta MAN UP! Pull this baby out. As i've said before WINGS REUNION. I would love to see Denny Laine back up there. Denny Seiwell is still alive (according to his webpage) And so is Henry McCullough. Let's re-unite that first lineup. Or the last line up Laurence Juber is nearly a household name to classical guitarists. And Steve Holly is still around. I just don't want to see that stupid looking Yamaha.

Stupid looking Yamaha???!!!! I resemble that remark. I own one, and love it to death. That said, I agree, pony up, get the old mates together, and by all means, use the Rick!

Their are pictures on Denny's website that show he and Abe together so Denny is still in the mix. That photo looks like Paul's studio in Peasmarsh. I don't think Henry would agree to a Wings reunion. Paul and Denny Laine still have a strained relationship, but it could happen.

As for the bass JH brought to him for Driving Rain, I'm almost certain he did not keep the bass.

I own a BB1200 too... very aggressive sounding, quasi-P-Bass tonality. Still takes a back seat to my C64S, but...

...anyone remember a big 'ol fold-out poster of Macca that appeared on newsstands right around the time of the Wings Over America tour? He's looking out to his left, over the audience... he's wearing that white trimmed "blouse" pictured at the top of this page... I remember that photo as being a good one! Good enough to have gotten me hooked on Ric basses!
