John, I could ship my SKB Bass Safe to you. Do you have a well padded gig bag? I can send that off in the case to you also (you'll need it).

I've never had a problem with it, other than airport people are not that familiar with them yet as guitar cases. I usually walk it all the way to the plane and have them put in in baggage as I get on the plane. That way I'm with it at all times in case of further security inspections. It's easy to move around with, it has wheels. It's up to you. Let me know.

Hey Joey, just checked out the bass safe. Looks pretty cool! I think i'm gonna pick up one for myself for the confluence and heck, for if I ever need it again. Thanks for letting me know about it!

That's cool John. Just remember that you will need a well padded gig bag to use the Bass Safe. Also a really good lock or two can be bought to use with the case.
I had thought about selling mine, then if I did, the need to use it again would probably occur.

Will the SKB Bass Safe work with a larger bass like the 4005? I had considered one but the size may be a problem. I do have a couple of gig bags that work well with the 4005.

If the bass fits into a gig bag, it should fit into the Bass Safe.

I wonder if a 360 would be safe in the SKB Bass Safe? If it did, it sure would save me the hassle of shipping my Ric to my friend who lives in Orange, CA.

I think that as long as the instrument could not move around in the Bass Safe, that it would be fine. Most guitars tend to be smaller than most basses, though the 360 is larger than most electric guitars. I don't know about chancing it, but if I did I would put it in a bass bag with some soft towels to fill the head area that a guitar would not fill in a bass bag.
Call SKB to see what they think. They have excellent customer service.

Jeffrey, I use a well padded Levi's gig bag with the Bass Safe. What make does the 4005 fit into?

I think I recall that JH had posted that he has a custom made Bass Safe-like case that the original RIC electric guitar travels in.

I have a couple of Kaces III bags that are much larger than the average gig bag.

It's been since last years SoCal confluence that I've seen a 4005 in person, so I'm not that familiar with it's dimensions. Is it that much wider than a 4001/3?
I wonder if SKB has any info on how other semi hollow electic basses fit in the Bass Safe. I might call them tomorrow also.

My 4001V63 is about 13 1/4" wide and about 45" long. The 4005WB is about 15 1/2" and around 48" long.

Joey, thanks for your gracious offer, but I won't be sending the Monte as previously hoped. However, I would like to impose on you if I may to take delivery of my photo backdrop so I can shoot basses for the book.

Back to Gary, will there be some well-lit area I might be able to set up my portable studio for photos?
