Happy landings, Melibee!!
Thanks for the comments, all. I was leaning a little toward the vintage option anyway, so you have probably tipped me over the edge.

Nice lookin' 330, Aitch~~and go with the vintage knobs. Since I'm leaving tomorrow for Seattle and points north, I'll look for a pic of the finished product when I return in September. Have a fun at the 75th! Lift up a couple (or more) in my stead.

Thanks, Stan. It's a gorgeous guitar and the wood on the fretboard is awesome. Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to purchase it from you.
Have fun in Seattle... I did in '02!

All the knob comments re: knobs not matching would be true,
except that I can custom-mold 5th knobs in the same dark brown as the ovens. So Aitch is covered should he decide to use ovens.
Here's a closeup of my "tophat" knob, alongside a Rogan:
...and here is the whole setup on my 381, with the custom guards which I also made for it:

Funny how some things slip past your eyes. I recall seeing the 381 a couple of years ago about, but never had a second thought about the 5th knob. Paul, didn't you do a similar modification (with the 5th knob) to a 660 you bought?

Now that is too cool. Well Aitch when you make up your mind it will be the right decision I am sure.
