The checker binding is a standard feature on the 660, which is what I ordered.

I think I may have misunderstood the sequential number thing... John K, were you talking about, for example, a 330 serial# 06 xxx01, a 360 serial# 06 xxx02, a 660 serial # 06 xxx03, a 4003 serial# 06 xxx04? That's what I thought you meant.

Perhaps John or Ben Hall can chime in here, but I believe that serials are computer generated, and therefore unlike the past, they are not assigned serials in blocks one after another. Perhaps I have misunderstood this more recent method of assigning serial numbers.

I am certainly no expert, but I believe Peter is correct regarding serial numbers. When I made my original post, I was assuming that the standard serial number assignment process would rule the day, and there wouldn't be anything special about the number on the guitar. I was also assuming that the 75th models would come with a certificate that tied the serial number on the jack plate to a sequence number in the lot of 75.
For example, the certificate would say something like, "330 Serial Number 06 xxx01 is number 9 of 75 (9/75) Rickenbacker 75th Anniversary model 330s."
What I was originally daydreaming about was thinking would be cool if you could get a 330, 360, 660 and 4003 that had the same sequence number. In other words, while the serial numbers would obviously be random, they would all be, for example, 9 of 75. Of course the best numbers of all will be 1/75 and 75/75. Did that make sense?
These may all be bad assumptions, but I thought it would be cool. Just thinking out loud...

Well, they were bad assumptions after all. Just read this from JH on the RIC website:
"All instruments will ship in their standard cases, i.e. only the 660 will be a vintage one. The special logo and color is more than enough to demark these as something special, so there's no certificate needed. "

Ok, my paranoia is working overtime.
I just wish they came with a certificate at the very least. I posted in another thread, I'd just be more comfortable if it came with a pedigree. I've lost my sales receipt since 1995, it just faded into a blank piece of paper, but that certificate is still with me.
The certificate not only proves ownership SHOULD something horrible happen like it gets stolen, but it's cool to show people my CS is #568/1000.
Touching on what John K. said, I'd also like to know WHICH # my 75th 4003 is. You know, say 44/75.
Does ANYONE know where a 360 may still be found?

Tony, I play guitar and bass equally (played more bass for a long time) and I can tell you the 300 series gitboxes are significantly larger than the 600 series.
I'm not sure which model you're thinking of... but the 380 is the 360-style walnut one with gold parts and a piezo option. The 620 and 660 have a cresting wave similar to the 4000 series.
While I don't think I'm going to part with it, you're welcome to play my 75th 360 when it comes in. We can finally have that Florida mini-confluence I keep bugging you about!
