I have never got this 15's and 10's mix thing. I cant see how it works if the cabs are powered off the same amp. The only way I can see that it would work is if there was some sort of a crossover/2 x amps or seperate amplifiers used for each cab. If one amp is used and the cabs are linked there surely is no definition ?

Keith, I now only use 10's because I tend to play quite small venues and if the gig is larger I just get my Ashdown head hooked up from the DI.
I used to have a classic 1 x 15 plus 4 x 10 rig. It sounded great and I found that the 10's were very good at the mid punch and pitch of the note, and the 15 was great at bottom end AND top end sparkle. The top end of the 15 was brighter than the 10's ? Never quite worked that one out.
It was a great rig but too darned heavy now for a man nearing 50...!

I use an Ashdown ABM 300 with an ABM 2 x 10 and have loads of volume for what I do. I have that much bottom end I am rolling the the bass knob down to about 10 o'clock. Ashdowns dont have a problem with bottom end. If I want more power I run an old HH head with a Trace 2 x 10 as well set up with more top. This sounds really good and doesn't hurt your back! You need seperation between 10's and 15's for the definition.

After John Entwistle died right at the start of their 2002 tour, I thought it would have been a noble gesture for Chris Squire to step in and complete the tour. Of course, that's idealistic thinking - there's a whole set list to learn in a short time, there's the grief process that everyone has to address on a personal level, but I know CS was influenced by John, so musically it wouldn't have been too far of a stretch. Plus, he could help with the backup vocs, too. Perhaps idealistic, but can you imagine! Chris Squire touring with The Who...

Those big amps were made for Van Halen for The Monsters of rock tour in I think 1987, they're 600 watts and have 32 10's. the other bands got jealous or something like that and they couldn't use them. They're in Japan now. Originally only one was made. They're like two SVT heads put together (12 6550's) with four SVT cabs on their side in one enclosure. I think it was the world's largest working amp. Jeffrey Scott told me he was going to buy one for his new project: Monsters of Jazz.
