I like the nut cut pretty low, I dont think the zero fret would work for me.

Well, actually Scott...if you like the nut cut low, then you probably WOULD like the C64S. The zero fret isn't any higher than any of the other frets.

I also like my nut slots cut low. So low that the strings buzz on the open notes if I hit 'em too hard. And my C64S has action on the nut side that is as low as my lowest Ricks.

Also...I don't know if its a coincidence, or if RIC pays extra special attention to the C64S, or if it has something to do with the fretboard having the sealer only finish, but the frets on my C64S are the closest to perfect of any of my Ricks.

No sir! An open note works just as well as it does when you fret the string at the first fret. So...there is similar clearance between the string and the first fret on an open note as there is between the string and the second fret when fretting with your finger on the first fret!

Does this make sense? I'm sorta confusing myself here!

Anywho, right out of the box these basses play really well for guys like us that like low action. All there is to adjust is the bridge height and truss rods.

This may have been answered before, but does the Jetglo c64s have a satin finish? Or normal CV?

The one I've seen at Chicago Music Exchange (the only 4001C64S JG I've ever seen in person) has a gloss finish, both on the body and on the fretboard.

I compared a few C64's, 4003's and one C64S last summer, and the C64S was by far the best playing and feeling of them all! I also played a '66 P-Bass, and the C64S had the same old, broken-in feel as that *ender. I wish my V63 had that feel.

4001C64S JG's will have conversion varnish. Satin on a black guitar gets all smudgy and dirty when you touch it.

Ben, are you willing and able to say how rare my shiny new JG 4001c64S really is?

And another question -- why were any made at all?

I'm not complaining or anything, just curios. I am completely smitten with my bass.
