Ha-ha. Cool question and priceless answer! The next question could probably be: "Copy? Do you mean the product or the ad?" Does this guy even realize somebody's having fun?!

It's interesting I actually got an email via Ebay from an Australian asking what I had meant by my question/comment. I explained the pix were ripped off from a legit ad from the UK and he seemed genuinely surprised.

It's also odd if you look at his store--there appear to be quite a few legit items there--even guitars (Tokai, etc.), yet he clearly lists both the Ric and a couple "Gibsons."

Another key scam procedure is if you're the seller and you get an e-mail from some buyer stating "Can you confirm that this auction is the same as this one "83298329923." They stick a different auction # as a link- then it goes to a faux EBay sign in page.... I've been getting a ton of those....

No it's not:

By the way this guy sent me his real name address and banking info so that I could wire him money for the the auction that was cancelled so if anyone at Rickenbacker is interested in this let me know.

I filled in the form reporting a fraudulent listing - I'm sure others did too - pretty frustrating experience and time consuming - and I guess they have a lot to do at EBAY China but it still took over 16 hours for the listing to be pulled. I got a nice message from Ebay.

oh yeah ...he'll be back.

We should forward this thread to the French companies suing eBay - it's a direct refutation of eBay's claim that they "immediately" remove fraudulent items.
