The only bass strings I break are the octave strings on my 10 string bass ...

If you want more fret buzz, lower the action a tad.

Does anyone know all the mods Geddy ended up making on his 4001?

a bad *** bridge, and schaller m4 tuners, and he removed the pickup cover ...

Also I think he had at least 2 black 4001 basses, 2 4080 basses, a 3001, a 4002 ... and I have seen him play a white 4001 with black trim ... and I heard a rumor that he has a 4003 ...

4003... Could that be the mapleglo you see in the background of most interviews done with Geddy?

Geddy had a MG 4001 back when they recorded Permanent Waves. I don't think it was ever used on stage but I have seen it in a few studio shots.

Do I hear a Geddy Lee signature model anyone?

get a jetglo 70s 4001 and you have a Geddy Lee signature model ... a close second would be a jetglo 4003 ... between those 2 there are a lot of Geddy basses out there already ... no real need for a "reissue" whereas the mid 60s 4001s basses played by Squire and McCartney were based or rare basses ...

The only guitar shop within 200 miles of me usually had Boomers or Rotos. Last Saturday i went to get a few sets of Boomers and the store guy said that don't stock them anymore Rotos too.
They only had Fender and Elixir strings.
Well, the Elixir strings were $50.00 so i got the Fenders 100-40, I must say, i'm impressed they are as bright as my Boomers....i think i'm going to defect.....
