I do recall that being said for the neck profiles, but I have not yet read anything that addresses the headstock shapes.

I thought that, too...but the brand new 4003 in the top photo of my previous post had the bulbous headstock coupled with the thinner neck, or so it appeared.

As of this post I've seen four 4003's with the more vintage headstocks, all mapleglos.

I guess we can assume, then, that the bulbous headstock will eventually be phased out completely, yes?

The headstock and neck profile are part of the same program, which is different for each of the two machines. I may not have made that clear when discussing this previously.

So one machine is producing thin necks and older style headstocks, and the other bulbous (I always wanted to use that word in a sentence) headstocks and standard neck profile?

Probably not - the C64 headstock is upside down.
