Gretsch Pricing?
Moderator: jingle_jangle
I think being a friend of Mark at the Music Zoo has its perks too! He's hooked me up twice with great guitars. I have a Gretsch as well - a 6120 Tiger Maple. They are sweet. I understand that the Gretsch price reductions continue now as well. My local dealer told me they got a good price on some Duo Jets for Christmas.
Just got my new Duo-Jet back from my tech...as mentioned above, it had a nasty grounding issue..or not grounded issue. The lightest touch to the pickguard would cause severe static. As it turns out, the pups are grounded but not the casing..Steve my good friend and tech grounded them now all is well...anyone else have this problem?

Gretsch guys are screaming, too...they jacked everything up at NAMM, and the consensus seems to be that things will settle back somewhat.
So now Chet's name is back on about nine or so models...but Gretsch couldn't get the name "Tennessean" freed up, unfortunately!
Meanwhile, I eagerly await Joel's phone call that my new White Penguin Billy-Bo (one of only 16 made!) has arrived from Japan. He says any day now...
This guitar will a love/hate thing. It is definitely over-the-Top (Z.Z. that is...).

Paul, Wonder why Gretsch could not free up the Tennesean name. Was that name owned by Chet's Estate? If it was why go half way? When I purchased my G6119-62HT from NCM Gary had pick guards with the Tennessean name, so I had him swap out the TR guard. I was a bit bummed out that the price of the Tennessee Rose had dropped so much lower than what I paid for mine. But hey, I dig the guitar and that lifted me out of the bummer room. I did not know about the White Penguin Billy-Bo (very limited run) I've seen the B-B Jupiter T-bird. Congrats on your soon to be delivered bundle of joy. I'm am eagerly awaiting a call telling me the stork is bringing my 360-12C63. Ah life is good!
Paul, we need to talk...when I first met you you had (and still do) all these beautiful Rickenbackers, Gretsches etc..even the few Fenders you had looked like some sort of work of art..seems that lately you've been picking up some..how should I say this.."different" sort of guitars....First it was that metalflake Strat..now this Billy Bo or whatever it is...have you told anyone about that...Bakerfield Rocketship yet..hmmm? Gotta love it!

OK, Mark, now imagine the same guitar in white, with gold sparkle binding, white headstock overlay, gold-plated hardware...and if the guard is black, I'm going to make a gold one...
Kinda hurts your teeth, doesn't it?
Anyway, I keep sayin' that it should be called the "Bo Billy", but no one listens. Bo WAS the progenitor.
George, the guy who sold me both the metalflake strat and the Bakersfield Rocketship is one smooth talker.
ZZ have been seen playing a matched set of reversed BBs in light green with purple scallops. These, I understand, were built by an independent luthier.
