Just one more thing:

This pickup is one of the best I've come across with so far. Simple but very effective. A couple years back I rewound one of these beasts, and I was quite impressed with its performance. Remember "I've been all around this great big world/And I've seen all kinds of pickups". Cheers. Image

I would love a CS! In the 90's I was a working sound engineer six nights a week in Florida, in my spare time I composed two symphonies and a string quartet, as well as about three CD's worth of rock music (all still in demo stages, unfortunately) then got married in '97 and moved north. I was oblivious to what was happening in guitar world, as I had a '68 ES-335 and a sweet Guild bass to handle that end. Then, in 2004, after starting to collect guitars again, I was re-listening to "Fish out of water" and surfing the net when I discovered the 4001CS. I was hooked, (pun intended) but it only took about five minutes to realize that they were off the market except for mid to high end collectors. Actually, I'd pay $4k for a clean one with a certificate but the England trip is the financial priority and the CS's just seem to be going higher. Maybe one will find its way to me, but the three I have now are quite enough! I'd still buy a FG V63 or a JG C64 if they came along... because there is just something about a Ric and everyone reading this knows exactly what I mean. And, BTW, you guys (and ladies too) are a great source of information and entertainment, as well. I've learned a lot here.

For instance, I thought the set neck '82 4001S that I found on ebay was a copy until reading about them here, turned out to be one of the best I have. Neck through's are nice, but the guys in Santa Anna can do the other styles just as well. I'm impressed with Rickenbacker, as a company, they stay true to themselves in a way that almost doesn't make sense in today's corporate mentality, but it is so nice to have. I tip my hat to the Halls. We musicians are lucky to have them, many other companies have long since sold out or expanded. But I digress...
