Dale, sorry I meant to say horseshoe baseplates. I see from the black horseshoe thread that they're also made of aluminum, and are rectangular rather than hexagonal shaped. Way back when, I replaced my 4001's plastic baseplate with one that I made from steel. It brought out all these high-end subleties that weren't there before.
