I doubt that Blue Boy will be available in the US, I've read that John Hall wanted to give the European/Japanese distributors something distinct from the US distributors. I noticed Pick of the Ricks had a Blue Boy 4003 available, and Mike Parks has a couple of Blue Boy guitars available.

I could look for a blue boy when I travel back home to the U.K. every now and then...but those U.K. prices....

Picture of the Green 4001 provided by Andrew:
Hey Andrew, is she a 4001S?
Is her finish a RIC factory job or a refinish?

The body doesn't look right. Look at the upper horn.

Yes, Brad. I don't know if it's the camera lens distortion or the lighting. The upper horn does seem to be pretty narrow. We'll have to wait for Andy to chime in.

Oh man oh man! That is the color. I'll order two of everything and wait years without complaint!

BTW, doesn't music-connection.com have a blueboy or two?

Lindsay and Paul,
Oh yeah! The PurpleBurst with the checkered binding is awesome!
I think the green's OK, but the upper horn is definitely not right!

sea Green, I'll check it tomorrow, I just got home from a gig and it's in my trunk, and that Hudson guitar is one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen, I would love a blue boy also.

I dunno about that horn being too narrow, those old basses were all different from day to day, hey Andy?...

Paul, thanks again for posting the pic. Yes, it,s a 64 4001S. It was refinished a long time ago, sometime in the 70,s...way before I bought it. The paint job is very thick and still has a good shine to it. One day though, I may strip it all away and see what,s under there. The upper horn is a little narrow...but they were different day to day from this time. Maybe it was sanded down a little when refinished...A great colour if your in the green camp...

You're welcome, Andy.
That's a nice Green Burst finish, though the "Factory Shaded Green" (or Apple Corp Green, as Jeffery calls it) that I posted earlier in this thread is my kind of Greenglo finish.
Yes the day-to-day, worker-to-worker differences do make each RIC instrument unique. That's the true essence of fine quality hand crafted guitars and basses, IMHO.
Do you have a picture of her front?
I'll be happy to be of service again if you do.
