That's be a cool idea. A model of the year to go along with the color of the year.

I'm glad I ordered one of those 1996's. I place an order about this last year. Great looking guitar.

Honestly, it's not that out of line. Most USA made premium guitars are way over that. Go to PrivateReserveGuitars.com and see the selling prices of some Gibson, Fender Relics, Warwicks and even custom ESP's and Jacksons. They sell for more than this model lists for. IMHO Rics are still a bargain.

I can't see how anybody who is into well-made guitars could consider Rickenbackers to be priced "out of line". They list at similar prices, and in a lower-to-identical range, as Japanese-built Gretsch Professional models. For that you get Made-In-America, small-production exclusivity and unbeatable, distinctive style. Playability and sound quality are first-rate. Factory involvement with the consumer is excellent. Lastly, depreciation is virtually nil, even on nearly-new instruments.

I'd been secretly hoping that they'd continue production of the 1996, but cease production of the 06 COY AFG, which would allow me to get a 1996 in mapleglo, too. But ah well I'll have to make do with my wonderful and now relatively rare 1996 AFG...

I think as usual Paul hit the nail right on the head. I just wish that there was some way that Mr. Hall could let us know what models are being considered in the foreseeable future so we could plan our purchases.
Personally, I am planing to order a 360/12c63 soon, but I would rather have a 1993 ( I think that's the model number for the Rose Morris 12-string model) in FG finish. If I had some idea that in the next year or so that this model would be remade, I would wait and order one then. At least if in the future Ric would decide to make the 1993, I'm pretty sure I could sell the 360/12c63 and use that money to fund the 1993 model.
That being said, I think there current policy not to issue any new models or COY's until the back orders subside is a positive busisness move.

I assure you that there is no 1993 in the foreseeable future.
